THE PITCH DECK
A Re-Imagining of
“The Greatest Story Ever Told”
A Podcast Musical in 16 Episodes
Music by Peter Link
Book and Lyrics by Peter Link and Ragan Courtney
In the backroads of Skedee, Oklahoma, and a mad escape across the great Southwest, a young woman's faith and love are put to the ultimate test when a divine plan unfolds, blending the heart of bluegrass with the soul and theatrics of Broadway in a 16-episode podcast musical that rejuvenates and reimagines "The Greatest Story Ever Told."

"Rosemary And Thyme" is a 16-episode podcast musical that centers on Thyme Quinn, a devout young woman in the obsolete small town of Skedee, Oklahoma. Thyme is deeply in love with her fiance and local town preacher, the apathetic Reverend Josiah Washburn, and frustratingly longs for him to set a date. Her quiet life is thrown into turmoil by a miraculous, divine intervention that will forever change her life. Word gets out regarding her distinction and small-town, insanely jealous gossips decide to ride both innocent girl, best friend Lizzie, and fiancé out of town on a rail. Ostracized and destitute, they escape hitch hiking and begin their Odyssey West encountering a myriad of fantastical adventures as they make their way across the great Southwest of America, searching for the right haven and home to fulfill her destiny and give birth. With a rich narrative and a score that travels from the ruralism of bluegrass to the grandeur of Broadway, this "Theater of The Imagination" brings a timeless story into the contemporary world, exploring themes of faith, love, community, and the surprising ways miracles can manifest.

Our podcast production budget was $130,000. Watchfire Music invested the first $25,000.
Based on the popularity of our stars and cast and the past successes of our creators, we were able to raise through many generous donations on Indiegogo another $50,300.
This paid for the development of the podcast musical, Rosemary And Thyme. Though it paid for all costs of production, we were left with very little marketing budget. So we decided to launch it anyway just to get a feel for how people would respond.
Surprise!
It took off anyway!!
Cut to the present …
After a short time, we’re now closing in on 15,000 downloads. (In the podcasting world, 10,000 downloads is the first golden benchmark of success.)
On top of that, Rosemary and Thyme has now been enjoyed in 140 countries!
AND on top of that, we have been barraged by people all around the world with a treasure chest of grateful comments ...
“I just finished listening to the pilot of ‘Rosemary and Thyme,’ and I think that You (Julia) and Peter and the rest of the Cast are doing a Beautiful job with the characterizations, music, singing and acting. It reminds me of Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keeler, which my Beloved Ronald and I used to listen to every Saturday night. Your 2 years of work has produced something Wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing with All of Us”! ~Lynda Findlay, Placerville, CA
“I just want to say how much I enjoyed episode 1 of your podcast musical ‘Rosemary and Thyme’. It’s a new experience for me. The production quality and talent involved are both top-notch. I love how it’s a modern-day Christmas story that re-imagines the most incredible story ever told… Bringing musical theater right into people’s homes is such a great idea, especially in these crazy times. Why Get Involved?

Because so much has already proven. We are miles ahead of a script and a wish. We are, so far, a proven commodity.
You know how hundreds of Broadway-caliber musicals never get seen because they can't secure a multi-million dollar stage budget?
Solution:
Our company, Watchfire Music, produces musicals in house in a state-of-the-art studio as high-quality, full-cast 'podcast musicals,' making them accessible to a global audience for a fraction of the cost.
This means we can tap into the massive, underserved market of theater and faith-based audiences who just can't make it to New York City to see shows with Broadway talent.
We're creating a new genre of 'Theater for the Imagination or "Radio Re-imagined." With little down payment, but much potential gain.
(to our knowledge)
Note from Peter Link:
This project is a massive undertaking. With more than eight hours of content, it is equivalent to three or four Broadway musicals, three or four feature films or a Pixar animated series. It was lovingly designed as a musical podcast where there was no limit to length. It was designed in 16 episodes that could be binge-listened or spread out over each listener’s choice of time. Consequently, our first choice of evolution would be a television miniseries. Or for that matter a Pixar animated series. As to the Broadway musical, clearly, with presently 35 songs, it would need to be creatively edited. All of the above are possible.
All of the cast in the present musical podcast are experienced Broadway, television, and film stars and professionals. If this were picked up by Pixar, we believe an animated film could use the cast and soundtrack as is. If kept in its current podcast format, we believe bringing it into Audible.com‘s Theatrical Division with a current subscribership of over 3 million subscribers could be a wonderful next step.

Rosemary And Thyme - A Podcast Musical in 16 Episodes is a family-oriented project
(PG 13 - not R). Like most classic stories, many of its themes resonate with our world today. It strikes the note of the necessity to improve the quality of our world leadership. It deals with immigration and the plight of immigrants. It also deals with the emancipation of the poor and the recognition that all people are created equal.
It also takes a hard look at good ol’ American values.
It reminds us of the incredible beauty of the great Southwest. It supports the awareness of the core values of family, and that family does not necessarily mean people of the same skin. It speaks to people of all ages. It reimagines a classic story known by billions and brings the fundamental values, morals and ethics once again to the forefront without being “religious“. It’s just a great story. It makes you laugh, and it makes you cry.
